Regime pumps propaganda. Ignorant family think its it's safe and wants their son/daughter to return and see each other again. Child returns and is subsequently kidnapped, tortured and murdered. Somewhere around 135k human beings are secretly held across the country aka getting brutally tortured right now. Secretly held here means the gov doesn't even admit they're being detained. It's estimated that those 135k are 68.5% of all detained. That 135k includes 3700 kids and 8500 women. All kinds of torture imaginable goes on. He claims hundreds of thousands have been murdered in those secret prisons. Apparently the regime demands a lot of money from the families of kidnapped individuals to know whether or not their child is even alive.

The Syrian Army and Intelligence is filled to the brim with Alawites that hate Sunnis. Alawite youth are encouraged by family to join the military and gov to protect themselves from the sunnis. They're told If the regime falls it's genocide time for Alawites.

Alawites in Syria are basically janassaries for the urban sunni shami elite, who actually run the country. They don’t have much power besides the presidency.
