Suffering and god

How does Islam explain a god that is omnipotent allowing crazy amounts of suffering ?

What I can’t understand is children suffering. For example, a mentally present person (conscious and can think) who can’t communicate and can’t walk, is it not insane for a god that could prevent it, to allow it to happen ?
