First of all, Ethiopia ain't qurux and never been so. Besides smaller districts of larger cities, they've never had an admirable or distinguishable architecture/city planning/infrastructure etc. in that period.
Most of the footages seems to be from Somalia and Eritrea, two former Italian colonies, hence the similar style of architecture. Eritrea is the only one of them, who practically looks the same today. Most of their conflicts, luckily didn't turn their country into dust. Can't say the same for Somalia.

Right now the nations with the best rep is Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia. Our name is in the gutter.

You're not wrong. There are many of them in Ethiopia. Just think about how there were "war of independence" where many Eritreans (and Ethiopians) died, only for them to flee their country right after it. Especially back to Ethiopia. Despite having peace (barely any in ETH), being "developed" (more than ETH) and with a lower population, having the opportunity to become successful quicker. Instead Isias Afwerki, the paranoid authoritarian, has turned it into the North Korea of Africa (despite how much people try to deflect from the reality).

Let me take this back. My city of Dire Dawa (an exception that I forgot kkkkkk) reminds me somewhat of these aesthetics. Which looks more or less the same today. But it's pretty old school vibes. There are so much footage to find, but they gives me nostalgic reminiscence. I need to go back there soon.

Also, part of the "beautification" of the city is attributed to having trees and green spaces everywhere. Without it, it'd look much more boring. More cities needs to adopt it, if they want to enhance their landscape and make it more "welcoming". Inshallah, more Somali cities will look like this in the future.

The best thing Italians did was their building style. It was a great mix with the building style in Somalia already.
