This is a small commercial block, other than the military-owned apartments across the street (posted by another user) and a dozen or so buildings mainly owned by armed forces the city is intact.
Pls help me understand their conflict. Forget 'pre colonial, post colonial' element.
1. Omar Bashir created a 'divided' security forces so they can't do a coup on him, he would have spies constantly monitoring inside the military.
2. The two generals fighting both agree on civilian govt and democracy but they want to keep military power to themselves so they can do a 'coup' when-ever need be. Following in the 'ayatollah' and his 'civilian' govt model.
3. What's the interest of gulf powers? is their rivarlry spilling over? is UAE just wanting sphere of influence to keep the Sudanese market for their port?

Surprisingly there's been very little destruction. This is right across from the airport, where fighting has been most intense.Itβs like the Somali Civil War but with fighter jetsmore destruction
