Stop wearing thobes.

They look hyper feminine especially the ones when it reaches your ankles. Ontop of that you're cosplaying as some arab wanabe and that's so embarrasing. Also looks gay.

so we should stop wearing the thobe because its arab wannabe clothing and looks gay, but youre fine with us wearing american clothes like shaati and trousers. Like im not against it, thats human and culture. We share clothing, its not a wannabe just because we wear clothing that originated from arabs. Furthermore, somalis and arabs have been close for centuries. Because of islam and trading, so of course we have adopted some of their clothing. Even traditional somali clothing has taken some design elements from arabs. Its not a bad thing, I mean im all for traditional clothing you know but this post is more of a jab at anti arab which directly stems from anti islam more then a genuine complaint. Also a bit weird that youre saying its gay and feminine, to what standard are you following? wearing clothing that covers you until your ankle is not gay, Maybe from an western standpoint where you view it as a dress but many cultures have clothing that stretches to the ankles. Even traditional somali clothing has it. I dont know why youre saying its gay. Thobe looks pretty masculine honestly unless if you have a potbelly poking thru

I don’t like to see it at weddings pls stop it.At the
Masjid it’s fine though!!

Yh we should also stop wearing suit and tie, and stop cosplaying as Europeans. Also let's stop wearing t shirts and jeans.

Yh let's just go back to the old days and just wear the laba good that our ancestors used to wear. Even though in Europe and north America we will probably freeze to death. That's sounds like a great idea.

I'm not wearing a dress lol most ppl think ur wearing some dress + most men are fat or skinny when they wear it which makes u look way less masculine, sometimes resembling women.

Modernised traditional clothes but I don’t know where it could be found
Yep, its nowhere to be found but @Ibn Abdon on a mission to revive it, traditionals somali clothing has had a tough life. 1st colonialism 2nd democracy 3rd secular dictatorship 4th civil war for 30 years. So yeah its gone but its going to be revived inshaAllah

I was literally walking outside once with my thobe and alot of people said why am I wearing a dress? that's when I found out how feminine it looks. Its also funny how whenever you bash arab culture it equates to anti islam.
Of course their going to say that, I assume you live in America or Europe. Their not use to thobes, of course their going to make similarities to their own clothing's like dresses. You have a weak mind if you are going to let others into your head,

Ive been asked this too, I use to wear the thobe to school some Fridays, Just tell them its traditional islamic clothing. (Before you asked why I said Islamic instead of Arab, most Islamic ethnicities have the thobe in their culture or a variation of it)

That being said, there's plenty of thobe variations. You can wear the Pakistani thobe it has pants. or all together, you can make the personal choice of not wearing a thobe. No one is forcing a thobe on you, what you're trying to do is convince people to stop wearing thobes by saying baseless things. Its not gay just because you got terrible build, and its not feminine because you got questioned 😂

Of all the things I would pick issue with in todays effeminate men's wear, the khamis is bottom on the list.
Moreover, it is my opinion that it is a masculine dress, and if I had time I would make an argument for it.

Its a style of dress that is prominent in eastern culture. The Indians, Pakistanis, Japanese etc etc have variations of it.

Compare the following two dress styles, you could very easily make arguments for the latter one being effete.
The man purse is no exaggeration, its a very common item amongst men in London.

Speak for yourself. The mindset that you have is already feminine, fearing what other people think rather then just wearing it. Reason why many people wear the thobe is because the Prophet wore it.

Thawb is more practical, you can go with it to any place suitable for occasions, for prayer, for the street, and I also advise Somalis to wear the Gulf Thawb that is tailored by tailors, it will be suitable for them because they are tall
