Speaking of Tahriib - guess who tahriibed from Garowe?

The point here is that, anyone given the chance will do Tahriib.

The reason why tahriib seems to be more in Somaliland is probably got to do the fact that they have more chance and have access to more money. I mean, a lot of tahriib people will tell you that they spent close to $10,000 US dollars on their journey.

Are you trying to argue that Somaliland is more wealthy than Puntland because more people are tahriibing? Sxb you are trippin. :mjlol:

I agree that having better accessibility will increase the chance of tahriibing and anyone having a chance will most likely take it. But I would argue that people that are living better and have greater access to education and opportunities back home are less likely to tahriib. I have family back in DDSI who are living well now compared to a decade before when there was no opportunities or development and I haven't heard of any of them trying to tahriib except one. They seem pretty alright with what they have now.

But I would argue that people that are living better and have greater access to education and opportunities back home are less likely to tahriib.

That is the case in Somaliland. Somaliland is churning out too many university educated graduates who then languish looking for jobs and eventually leave the country.

These factors are also behind it, in Somaliland.

1. Some of them go on Tahriib b/c they know someone else who went on Tahriib and now is killing it - i.e. building a house or sending money back or just Social media show-offing.
2. In Somaliland, marriage is very expensive - the most expansive in the Horn of Africa. This is causing a lot of young men to risk making it to Europe.

That's why there needs to be economic opportunities for the youth as well. I really feel sorrow for the people back in the motherland, we have a greater quality of life, have access to good education and have better job prospects. They probably feel that they are missing out and that's why we need to go back and help them out.

Mashallah Somaliland has some good universities but the few job prospects is an issue (which is also a problem in general for Somalia) probably due to lack of recognition otherwise I believe things would have looked a lot better.

This thread backfired heavy :dead:

The point of the thread is to highlight that Tahriib exists everywhere.

Most likely the reason there shoplifting epidemic in Mjteenia is that these kids can't find jobs and don't have funds to do Tahriib. So what do they do? they become gang members and do petty crimes breaking into shops and businesses.

Coming to think of it, a Tahriib is dignified option rather than becoming a shoplifting scum.

Oh no not this 'tahrib' crazyness. Do u want the stats between PL/SL tahrib rates? @Passenger

Puntland has the lowest rate of migration because most of the migrants from PL are from south/central Somalia.

Please ask for the porportion of migrants from PL and i can provide it to you. The ones who return to bosaso is due to those 'camp families' they have there now. From that 5% that return to bosaso, you want to know how many are 'local puntlanders?

@Passenger f*ck it you pushed me to throw out the figures.

migrantsouth.png

Let that sink in waryaa. 30% of migrants in PL are south-central, yet the over-all migrant stats nationally PL only has a 5% share only and from that 5% it's still split between south central somalis and local puntites. They don't report on Puntland local migrants because it is so small waryaa that's why they need to include the south central portion or else we would not make a dent in the national stats.

Only 5% return to Bosaso, 13% hargeisa, 50% Mogadishu. This is the stats for the yemeni route, this doesn't include the over-land routes for hargeisans which you make up 90%. The doctor has the facts or do u dare to see the overland routes?

You guys are not only going thru bosaso which u make up 13% of the returnees who go back to Hargeisa. You have a large portion in the djibouti corridor while owning 90% of the overland routes to libya. If combined I would say you are around 30-40% just yourself being a duli in libya or yemen

Trying to compare yourself to puntland is the biggest mistake a lander made. @Passenger you should be discussing with south-central somalia how you will share the pie of 'refugees' leaving their lands. Your both competing very highly in the bosaso and djibouti corridors and you dominate the libya overland route 90% share there, 20% in bosaso, 60% in djibouti corridor. Lets add it up and give landers their true porportion of refugees nationally and u will never speak again like u do with a puntlander or trying your hardest to get us to share the refugee quota. U saw farmajo bringing back the dulis from libya, 90% was you, where was a puntite waryaa?

@Passenger I am looking over some statistics right now comparing SL/PL drug intake of khat. It's measuring 'tonnes of khat that enter both regions' and it's totally scary the difference.
