Southerners come in

Laftagaren has been pretty useless, but at least he hasn't made existing problems worse I'll give him that. His hands have been pretty tied because it's the clans that hold power. He was recently complaining about how they're not joining the state army in the huge numbers he'd thought they would. Clan militia > State militia.

This really sums up our state. There's just too much clan rivalries for anyone of them to submit to the Southwest State project. The next leader, or laftagaren, will have to hold much more meetings with clans and solve disputes like Galmudug has been doing. Otherwise SWS will just remain as lines on a map without any real authority.

The hatred and distrust qabils have for each other was summed up perfectly last October in Huddur. AS intercepted and burned a few trucks carrying the usual trade goods. The owner's qabil decided to blame their main opp because it happened in their territory when it was clear to everyone it wasn't them. (The accused qabil has been targeted before, at the same location, so it's obvious it ain't them.) But no no, let's score some petty points against each other instead of uniting and taking on AS together.

Most people are pro federalism fyi but whether the central gov interferes or not, clan reconciliation is needed. That's more important.

Is Roobow popular among D&M or his own Laysaan?

Both but the protesters in December 2018 were mainly Leysaan. You're next question will probably be why is he so popular but I cba to answer that cos we'll have to go in to the politics and factions of the region pre his takeover of Baidoa in early 2009.

Is there a majority clan within D&M in Bay N Bakool?

Mirifle splits into Siyeed and Sagaal which aren't proper clans but more like the gang sets Bloods and Crips :icon lol:

There's around 8 or so subs of the same size but none of them can control Bay and Bakool. That's impossible for one clan. This isn't Puntland where you MS dominate completely :icon lol: I guess it's a blessing and a curse having too many clans of similar size and power.

Do you support his candidacy for SWS?

:hmm:

Yes. Not becuase he had great economic plans for developing the place but because he had a proven track record of fighting AS which should be at the top of the agenda for everyone. His vow to flush them out pissed off the Ethiopians who benefit from the status quo. If there was no AS in SWS, what would justify their presence? That was the main reason he was arrested.
