South Sudan marks independence

Happy Independence Day to Africa’s youngest nation. A day to recognize the many years of endurance of struggles to accomplish a nation of your own. May our brotherly people, South Sudanese achieve peace and unity amongst themselves (& leaders in particular) and lead a prosperous future for their country.

Thanks heaps, walaal

We have so much to do; there have been so many failures; but we still have much to be proud of; we can shape our own future and that's a privilege that I am immensely hapy we have.

I can sense an immense sentiment of hope that success may be around the corner, now that your leaders at last have realized that heading to battlefield ain’t the way to solves internal ‘woes’.

I need South Sudan to succeed so it can be a beacon of hope and lead with example, to us other failed states in the region, who’re still fighting each other in never-ending conflicts:mjcry:

I don't think we'll be having success anytime soon, but I am cautiously optimistic that we will at least soon stabilise and gradually grow; like you said, there's now the recognition that political differences cannot and should not be settled through military action.

South Sudan will rise, and will become much more than this; we are incredibly resilient people that have faced evil, destruction and death for centuries, without once giving in; I am honestly in awe of my people

South Sudanese have amazing genes. The height combined with the skin clarity. Even cadaans have taken notice. They have begun grabbing at them for modelling as they give the clothing a certain pop.

happy Independence. Thought I’d share that aswell. Don’t ask why.

Thanks for the love, bro

I thought you were from Mudug.

This is an incredibly funny running gag at this point and I love it

What's the economic development in South Sudan looking like?

The economic situation is bad, however, the rate of economic contraction has decreased; the devastating 2013-2018 wars destroyed all the gains we made during the Interim Period (2005-2011); so we need to tackle instability and insecurity before we can embark on any kind of economic program.

South Sudan needs to diversify its economy and invest in agriculture first in order to feed its population and then to export the surplus.

We have an aquifer system that spans across more than 50% of our territory, so we have more than enough storage capacity; South Sudan receives 580,000 gigalitres of water per year in rainfall; and 80% of our land is arable.

Indepedence is an incredible blessing; we were losing 100k people a year for 21 years under Khartoum and we constantly had to defend our territories from being annexed, so I'm happy that we now have internationally recognised borders.

We will overcome the corrupt elite in Juba and honour our people's centuries of resistance and the millions of martyrs that made it all possible.

Northern Sudanese Arabs and their failures in ruling Sudan led to the independence of South Sudan. That’s why we the Janjaweed of western Sudan are whooping their butts hard in Khartoum these days 🔥🔥🔥🤣🤣🤣
