look at the imagery they use for other countries vs the one they use for somalia

sudan in 2023 is a hellhole, theyre going through the same shit we went through in 1991. janjaweed mooryans are looting, killing and raping their way through sudan. women are being sold in markets, port sudan belongs to the flies and roaches, cholera and other diseases are festering in the cities, all the nice buildings have been burned down, millions are displaces and tens of thousands have been killed in massacres

google images thinks otherwise. it looks more like sudan is going through a civil uprising when thats not whats happening at all. patriotic imagery with fthe flag waving proudly even through the articles describe unspeakable horrors

compare that to somalia. we were a shithole but 2023 has been our best year, mogadishu is safe, construction is booming, the famine has been averted, no more clashes in the streets, no mass rapes, relative economic stability, huge progress against shabab, being reintegrated back into the global financial system with debt relief.

this is what the press thinks though

you might say this is the 'reality' but why is this but it seems the truth is only applied to us only, everyone else can have their ceeb hidden. abiy told western press to piss off when he was burning down tigray and drinking their blood. meanwhile in somalia where journalists get 'kidnapped for ransom by pirates' they seem to have so much access to the worst scenes here

look at this crap, positive headline and article but do you honestly think this image is necessary?

i dont mean to pick on sudan or drag them down with us but i just don't like this stupid double standard, journalists need their cameras smashed and confiscated

Yeah man almost half the pictures that pop up when you search Somalia are all ones from the civil war that have ZERO correlation with how it is today.

New World

the people's champ
Somalia is still widely perceived as a failed state plagued by famine, despite the progress made in recent years. The changes implemented may not be significant enough to dispel the negative perception.

Most of the articles written about us revolve around three main topics: Drought, food issues, and shabab.
FT used better images for an article about pushing out shabab. I haven't read the full article, but the pictures look good. but a completely negative picture of the debt relief outcome article.

Damn that could have been all over Somalia and be normal if it wasn't for the stupidity of our people.
