i just came back from a month in hargeisa, and i cant help to notice the anti socialness in the west, and how outgoing people are back home, its like night and day

you could have a conversation with someone, and a third stranger would just join the conversation even though nobody asked him.


people are lot more confident in themselves, and actually hold eye contact with you

and the banter they have is top notch, nobody beat somalis back home when it comes to comedy

One time I had a convo with a shop owner in Hargeisa and he noticed that I wasn’t from there so he asked me about it. Then he said that we are all the same maa shaa Allah. You don't learn it. It develops over time. Some people are more anxious than others and yes, some in Somalia have it to differing degrees.

Its not normal anywhere you go. Its a mental illness sxb.
Even in the West, its extremely weird and uncommon. It is becoming more common now bc ppl are using technology and social media as a crutch these days.
