I was at an Egyptian restaurant today and the worker said "dagaag kebab" and I thought he was copying me since I pronounced it like that when I was ordering then my friend said that's how Egyptians say it
:heh:

The Arabic word for chicken is Dajaj (دجاج) but Egyptians pronounce their J's as a G and say Dagag, the way somalis say digaag.

Some of our Somali words also is the same as Yemeni. It’s just we all have connections cuz of its Arabic language influencing us (somali , Egyptians, Berber )

amxaaro once spoke cushitic language and still use many cushitic words as it has a cushitic substratum, doro is cushtitc and is the authentic somali word, digag is the loan word. Generally northerners speak an arabized af somali

Joke aside the af somali of the north uses more arabic loanwords but there is nothing wrong with that, it has just to do with trade and contact. I'm not some cushitic somali ultranationalist
