Somaliland's upcoming elections is a good chance to contrast itself from Somalia

As we all know these last few months and especially the last few days everyone here has been buzzing about Somalia's current "election". The entire political process over there is nothing short of a mess, with fueds with federal states, to the constant meetings/conferences that get to nowhere, to talks about term extensions that may or may not be constitutional, the whole thing is just abysmal.

Somaliland's elections are geared up for late this May, and voting polls and registration have been going on in preparation, and this election cycle is a good opportunity to show the contrast between the political system here vs down south in terms of sucess, and lets hope it runs more smoothly

All registration and everything up until now has been financed by the government. Biixi said Somaliland will completley finance the elections as well. No foreign meddling and no hand outs:salute:

Not a good comparison, mamulka iskeed kudhawaqday ee Somaliland is one clan majority. 2 habros tag teaming on another. While in wanlaweyn, its a mess. You got Taruuds, Huttus, Dir, D&M and the rest of Somalis who cant agree on shit.

Its more complicated than that sxb, Somaliland has its fair share of clan diversity, and it helps that the system is democratic where you have to earn the votes from the people rather than having mps vote for their candidates, which would reek heavy corruption

The 1st step is holding 1p1v elections in Muqdisho and any areas under FGS control, but 1st FGS have to actually control it instead of clan militias wearing terrorist or FGS hats. Keep expanding that system until the whole South is pacified and united

Isn't that usually the case for Somaliland? Self-funded elections since Dahir Riyaale?

i'm against secessionism but good job Somaliland, the rest of the somali people should copy what somaliland is doing. Despite our differences success for any somali territory is a success for the whole of the somali people:fittytousand:

SL is making better effort towards a prompt and fair elections. But the comparison with Somalia is completely unrealistic for reasons already said above. But it’s not about Somalia, it’s about SL achieving its own personal best which to my knowledge it’s doing, or at least trying to do.
