We are very poor and chronically underdeveloped, without the institutions or the competent leadership to address and alleviate. (Why don't they legislate for the conditions that can support development; like support entrepreneurship etc)
The political system seems stagnant and designed to entrench courrption. (Huge cabinet, lack of women, long terms, dodgy elections, kangaroo courts)
We face existential problems due to the lack of political engagement of all our citizens.
Lack of economic liberalism and the sharp turn to monopolies.
Int'l recognition would help a little but hurt a lot more turning us into another poor african state. If our poor institutions already engender corruption then recog means more money(Aid, Loans) to embezzle and more people willing to fight over it. (Would Cirro have conceced the election if it meant losing a massive payout)
