Found this on twitter from someone saying that Somaliland was only apart of the Somali Republic on 1960 but not Somalia today. I'm not familiar with international law but how legit is this anyways?

This is like the crazy Americans who say that they were born before the constitution or a law was written therefore it doesn’t apply to them, or the Russians who think they still live in Shuuciland because Tajikistan never voted to dissolve it and therefore they don’t have to pay their rent.

Somaliland was let free of the condition it unite with the south. It was free for less than a week before the union. If the British wanted they could've easily made 2 nations but they didn't. The international community recognize the FGS as the successor of the republic and thus they never both to consider the issue. Somalilands best moment to break free would've been during the anarchy but even then international forces refused to acknowledge them.

Theres has only been 1 Somalia (or somali republic) in the UN, due to british somaliland being free before italian somaliland. They got the title of somalia first and then unified with the rest.

Somalia has been the convenient name used since 1960. The official name of France is the French Republic but it is always called France. Similarly the Somali Republic was always called Somalia.
