Somaliland: Gallery of the child vote

In Somaliland the recent election that took place last Monday several children were spotted voting for their favourite candidate (actually closest candidate in blood to them).

The ballot boxes were easy enough as they had the parties name and logo and all the kids had to do was put an X into it and voila they voted.

Some came to help their elderly relatives and showed them where to cross.

Some had a double duty and vote themselves later on once they had already voted for their elderly grandparents.

I say there should be no restriction on age as Somalis left their ancient system and replaced it with something they don‘t have experience in.

Seems like a good quality camera, why can't you make out a single picture on the cards or any information for that matter:ulyin:. Also it's not a coincidence that these photos were held onto and released after wadani found out they were gonna lose :bell:. Not to mention wadani hasn't disclosed the exact location this allegedly happened at

If they noticed it how come they didnt mention it to begin with

im thinking they had child voters aswell

There were some children who were accompanying their old relatives who voted for them.

When I first saw a few pictures on the day of the election I witnessed children being in line and I was wondering myself why they were there.

I put it first down that Somali children are very curious and maybe where there to witness a big event like an election which gripped the whole of Somaliland and they would not want to miss out.

Then there pictures of small children with their grandparents who helped in the voting by putting the ballot in the box and ticking the relevant box for them.

The question is what can be learned from this?

Maybe a public education Programme for the public at large so to prevent it in larger urban areas and lessen small towns and villages percentage of child voting.

As far as I know kids under 16 were not allow to vote they got kicked out the ones who were questionable had to bring a relative who could confirm theyre real age and that relative had to put his hand on the quran that they are telling the truth

Before all this Wadani were bragging everywhere how they are winning despite all the votes havent been counted now they just looking for a reason

There's no such things as half truths. If im accusing the government of fraud I'm bringing all my proofs. They could've easily disclosed this the day of, and even more easily disclosed the location.

I smell sabotage. These were probably their own kids told to pose for the picture and they held onto them as a just in case method. Why else wouldn't they disclose it immediately or even mention the exact polling station it happened at

Mercury I see but what about remote places with predominantly one clan who is going to police it?

Also the pictures tell another story.

I am glad that a truthful discussion and dissection of the issues is taking place.
