Somaliland and BRICS

If Ethiopia does indeed recognize Somaliland, what are the chances that BRICS will do the same? Two of the members have veto power in the UN.

You talk as if it will be Somaliland only doing the convincing.

It'll be Ethiopia aswell who need Somaliland to be recognised for their own national security.

Neither Russia or China will stand in their way as it'll ruin their relationships which is much stronger than Somalia.

Don't forget the UAE is part of BRICS and they are the closest partner Somaliland has.

As for China Somaliland will simply switch allegiance like any rational country would.Seems like an incentive for China to engage with Somaliland to remove Taiwan.

Right China will listen to the country that has continuously been failing to pay them back. BRICS is not a union of equal partners, there are clear senior and junior parties involved. And while Ethiopia could request that China recognize SL, it in no way can it force them to. Russia perhaps, since their relationship is better but China no way.

Same with UAE. We're talking about superpowers, they're not going to be taking requests. Both UAE and Ethiopia will have to pay a toll for the luxury of changing China's mind on the matter.

You think too narrow to assume China would rather let a country continue to hold ties to Taiwan then rather build relationships.

This what China has been doing to nations that have ties to Taiwan and just like that China will comeback to Somaliland to sever ties with Taiwan.

Don't tell me you think China values Somalia territorial integtity of a failed state over Ethiopia, UAE and a new relationship with Somaliland kkkkkkk
