The era of when international agencies and governments gave preferential treatment to "recognised" flagship carriers is long gone.

The only real benefits remaining of being a flagship carrier is that you get benefits from the government you are the flagship carrier for.

Additionally, international agencies don't "recognise" an airline as a flagship carrier. Specific airports or airport authorities used to give preferential treatment in days gone by, as did governments with regards to usage of air space, but both of those are no longer practiced by the vast majority of the developed world. I can't speak for African and smaller Asian countries though.
