Somaliland: 4.4%, One of the lowest inflation rates in East Africa

The Somaliland Shilling was one of the few African currencies to gain on the US dollar. This is a remarkable achievement as this region is not known for stable currencies.

Ethiopia for example has an inflation rate of 19%. You then have eye-watering levels in the Puntland region of Somalia at around 50%, 3rd highest in Africa after Zimbabwe and Sudan.

In this light, Somaliland is doing such a commendable job, even without access to proper financial instruments.

Somaliland where able to attract some foreign investors and also have better economy than Puntland. Together with good politics it was able to stabilize the economy and continue the growth.

Puntland is almost bankrupt, so it is very hard to recover quickly.
