Somalia need to invest in import substitution industrialization

The Somali government or private sector (Diaspora) should invest and establish industrial manufactering parks in cities like Boosaaso,Hargeysa or Beledweyne to produce much needed stuff like cosmetic,pharmatical,steel rebar, sugar,textile,electronics, assemble ckd/skd cars,tannery,construction material,medical equipment,mineral water/soft drink, for Somalia domestic needs and export these products internationally in order gain hard earned foreign cash. It will create jobs for the Somalia growing population and will add to Soomaaliya gdp. The first step the Somalia government should do promote made in Somalia products and explain the benefits of buying Somali made products compared to foreign product also to find ways in replacing these products.

Easier said than done. To do this, they also need some sort of security as we have amongst us those who don’t want any real progress. Somalia becoming self-sufficient isn’t a viable plan for many who benefit from our current state of affairs.
