I have three words- state-run oil.

Saudi, Mexico, Venezuela- they all have state-run oil. I think Saudi is privatizing their state-run oil. I'm not sure but if they are I think it's selling out. I am not a socialist but having a state-run oil enterprise is great.

You can do all kinds of things with state-run oil. You can fund the propagation of religious teaching like Saudi, you can reduce poverty and help the poor like Chávez in Venezuela, you can do all kinds of things with state-run oil.

State-run oil promotes shared national enterprise and national independence.

Yes, there is no reason we can't rival Saudi Arabia and Dubai. However, we should follow Norway's method by creating a sovereign wealth fund and investing in useful/rational infrastructure instead of going all out on crazy infrastructure projects like the UAE and Saudi's are doing.

Royal Dutch Shell is interested in extracting oil in Somalia recently, we have more oil than the UAE and Saudi Arabia. We need to do it now.

Somalia should have at least 30 years of functioning governance with a proven track record then think about oil and gas. How about we learn how to tax the people and build our own infrastructure without aid money.
