Whenever I look up Mogadishu or Somalia online it's nothing but old footage and pictures that still portray the country as a hopeless, war torn, warlord dominated, poverty stricken hellhole when reality on the ground says otherwise. There has been economic and infrastructure projects happening nationwide in various sectors for years but none of this has been communicated to a global audience in English through established international media. We can work with established international media networks from partners such as Qatari Al-Jazeera and Turkish TRT for example to help with global image rehabilitation and have Somali investors and economists sit down and communicate how the local and diaspora Somalis are heavily investing in the country in various sectors along with current and upcoming economic and infrastructure projects.
Below is one of the few pieces of media I could find online from 2 years ago that indicates to the global audience that Somalia is on a path of rapid development and recovery. The video has 1 Million views which indicates that there is an interest from a foreign audience about what's going on in Somalia and how the country is developing today. We need an international media presence that properly communicates what's happening in the country in terms of economic and infrastructure development. This is the main reason in my opinion why Somalia is still viewed today as a poverty stricken "shithole" when its far from that today. A lot of good is happening in the country but no one knows about it which does not help with our global image and respect.
