Someone correct me if I’m wrong but refugee resettlement programs still continued during his first term even tho there was a travel ban. Is this just republicans pretending to do something about immigration to help people forget the fact that they’re on track to deport less people than dem presidents did?
I actually agree with him on this one. However, a big chunk of Somalis who enter USA( legally or illegally) aren’t even from Somalia proper. Conservatives r celebrating too early

This is such a BS list and an obvious distraction. Somalia, Chad on the list but not Syria, Gaza (he made those statements multiple times to ban them, i know that very few Gazans could leave realistically), Iraq or Pakistan?
He mentioned the Colorado attack by an Egyptian man whom over stayed on his visa and was thus illegally in the US and who attacked Israeli protesters yet people from those 12 countries are not even top 20 in the list of illegals.
African immigrants and refugees were barely accepted by the US in the first place. African countries (non war torn) have the highest refusal VISA rates in the US.
Also bizarre how they made an exception for immigrant visas for those that suffer from ethnic and religious persecution in Iran? Like seriously, those minorities there are treated better than in the many countries he listed to ban like Afghanistan, Somalia or Congo but they do not get exceptions. Probably because those Iranian immigrants there are on average way richer, connected, secular and more patriotic to the US and thus the establishment want more of them compared to the others that mind their business and are more insular.

That's why i said that those people were accepted way more because they are Christians and Jews and are on average way more patriotic to the US than other immigrant groups from Africa, Middle East and Asia that are more insular. Iranians in the West are usually from good and highly educated families compared to other refugee groups whom consists mainly of the poorer rural people.
I know about that optic but he has said that many times + he is already going after Harvard and other universities because of the Pro Palestine protests, not to mention using the Colorado attack against Israeli protesters as an example for the travel ban. Would not surprise me if he took would ban Gazans from entering the US if this war ended.
And i don't agree with your last sentence. The acceptance rates in the West overall are still high, especially for certain groups like Afghans, Eritreans. The lower acceptance rate for refugees in those countries is because of refugees from different places like Senegal, Mali, Colombia (in the case of Spain and France) or from the Maghreb or Balkan (in the case of netherlands, Belgium, Germany).
if they did not stop accepting refugees after 2015/2016 at the height of the whole terrorism and migrant crisis, why would they stop now?
They have suspended Syrians asylum claims in most of Europe and many of these leading right wing parties want them to leave but frankly that is not realistic and they know that damn well too. Why would someone leave a country where they have build a life in the past 6-7 years and go back to a country that is not even rebuilt? They have tried and not succeeded with previous refugee groups so i am not expecting anything out of this either. Especially with the strict laws on topics like human rights.
These are the countries the gulf countries are disrupting on behalf of the U.S Create instability then call them dangerous subhanallah

Finally I really gotten tired of Somali youths leaving Somalia. To fix Somalia it has to be done from the inside rather than then the outside. Somalia will be an oil producing country soon we need Somali citizen to stay in Somali for them to fix there country. If these people keep leaving there will be no countries for Somalis to have because we have neighboring countries that love to grab land.
