The guys talking shit, 91-97 was the height of the war, then 06-09. It wasn't crazy violent outside of those years, it was lawless though.

Most people in Somalia died due to hunger & disease though, not massacres

Somalia has low homicide rates and low crime rates in general, it’s just political/interclan violence, and even that is low compared to most wars.
 
We always had a low intentional homicide rate in Somalia because of our traditional legal system.

Subclans are held accountable for the actions of their clan members. This collective responsibility makes us avoid harming or wronging other Somalis, because there will be costly consequence for you and your subclan. You could also get the death penalty if the victim's family wants you dead.
