Whether its Columbia, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or anywhere else, this speech and its message are timeless

Interest theory, the ultimate guidlines for a pessimist. I shall study it more:patrice:

It would inherently lead to racism, as the happy countries are white and only their children spared worst elements of life. :idontlike:

You have to wonder about why people on the edge of starvation want to have children? Maybe to give themselves hope? But what hope can a child who was malnourished as a baby and stunted from the day he was born provide?
I can understand the logic of of people in such situations not reproducing, but the natural drive of reproduction may be too powerful.

Antinatalism is utter nonsense in the developed world, but it may make sense in utter hellholes like Somalia.

Yeah bro let's stop having children because your starving while your in a developing country where the wages aren't high I wonder what could go wrong. This is basic geography and human development.

Everyone has their own risq the more children you have the more risq your family will have.

There is no such thing as the developed world. Only greater development of the all-encompassing death drive and self-effacement: the natural tendency of a null world towards its own emptying. The first world is the vehicle that, within its perfumed interior and comforting seats, hurdles us the fastest towards the oncoming barrier. By inviting a new passenger, you but delude them for a while. No airbags will deploy when impact is made.

You’re into antinatalism? It’s a bit of an extremist view, don’t you think?

In the unborn world, there are no views, extreme or otherwise. There are no hopes to be dashed, no illusions of love to be dispelled. What the religious call heaven is the blissful joy of unawareness. The Kingdom of God lays within that void. To want non-people to remain where there are isn't extreme. It is the highest form of virtue

I don’t buy that at all. I think humanity is at the very begining of an age of abundance and ever more enjoyment. Your kind of ideology is well suited for a preindustrial time where Malthusian rules are at play. In a Malthusian setting you become better off by reducing fertility but in places like Denmark or Japan or Canada, I feel that every capable human has a duty to reproduce.

Antinatalism makes sense at the extreme ends of poverty.

Seeing those events during the last couple droughts in the Horn really made me question whether those dead kids had any chance to begin with.

Even if there wasn't any drought during their childhood (btw there's at least 1 every 5 years); they still would've grown up stunted due to malnourishment regardless.

Were their parents morally right to have kids when they pretty much know that their kids will be forced into a life of struggle?

I know we need to increase our population to compete against our neighbors but I'd rather the extremely poor are advised not to procreate.

There's no cure for stunted childhood development and it'll always lead to adults with learning difficulties.

They will end up as burdens instead of part of our national strengths.
