First batch of 41 students to be sent to China for top universities. Naturally they will mostly be from south Somalia. I predict within 10-20 years most educated Somalis will be from south Somalia.

Everyone is in the diaspora (minus reer South West state). What matters is back-home though.
When this lot get educated they will most likely go back to Mogadishu (since China Gov doesn't

Yh but Puntlanders are too assimilated in USA. Do you ever think Ilhan Omar will go back to live in Somalia? while the Mogadishu students that get educated in China will simply go back to Mogadishu and contribute.

What is this 60billion grant anyway? what are the stipulations involved? we don't want to get into debt with china. Why don't they ask china for a loan to buy equipment to extract our minerals and resources so that in 20yrs time we can pay off our debts and make off rich like Saudi??

It is a grant not a loan. Apparently China wants to show off to the world that they can be generous without any strings attached kkk.

Now that is where the challenge is for them. Pl needs to implement more attractive policies and opportunities that will lure them from the comfort of the West and not just giving imaginary positions with zero value and few $$.

But then again the will be competing in the larger Somalia market and they will have the upper hand

$15 billion is grants. The rest is interest free loans and investments. What made you think Somalia would take loans? when it can't even pay the past debts.

Close to 70% of students in India and China are from Puntland. I've been to Hyderabad - India last year and had an interview with students over there (multi clans) and they all agreed that students from Puntland out number others by a significant margin. China is also witnessing the same trends.

They are already there. Plus most real estate and farms northerners own in south Somalia is owned by us. My own fam own huge farms in Lower Shabelle and real estate in Mogadishu. Our farm in south Somalia is bordered by the farms of other HY families. They been there since 1960s-70s.

China within itself is in debt. The average Chinese can barely get by and household debt is growing quarter after quarter.

The Shanghai composite is down 24% this year and China isn’t ready for handle the global economic crisis that is coming upon us.

The Chinese need to refrain from throwing debt at fragile African countries like Somalia.

The next generation will not cover the debt made by incompetent warlords.
