Somalia Denies Closing Of Garowe Immigration To Protest Somaliland Berbera Port Deal

Somalia Ministry of Immigration has denied reports that its Garowe offices have been shut down indefinitely to bar people from applying for passports.

Hundreds of people have been stranded at the Garowe offices with no services being provided by the immigration offices.

Garowe Immigration offices are also used by a majority of the people of Somaliland seeking to get a passport.

Surely the Somali government is in a difficult position because they cant be seen to sanction somaliland people, because they would consider them to be their citizens and to sanction them for being from somaliland would be seen to be acknowledging they are from a different state.

I think somalilanders should take full advantage of this hustle and enjoy all the benefits of being from somalia (i know, there happens to be something!!!) while still claiming to be from an independent state

Technically Somalilanders can't be refused Somali passports since they are part of Somalia to suggest otherwise would make them stateless similar to the Gypsies of Afghanistan.
