The Silk Road was a literal land based trail from Rome to China for the silk trade. In between, other cities were made expanding the options for trade. During this time Somalis had city states for maritime trade. This was not the Silk Road, but trade based on seafaring.

We came exist because of this silk road i think. Merchants settle down in somalis and married locals

Spices and other goods from the Indian Ocean would go to Somali ports and be traded on the Red Sea.
