So I'm a Lander and when I was younger aged 12 to 17 I hated the idea of Somaliland. To me it just sounded pointless having a separate country with the same language, same religion and same people. I even shunned the flag and had the Blue and white star pictured on my school/college books. When I visited relatives in Hargeisa I was strictly told to keep my opinions to myself otherwise I risked being punched.
As an adult my view changed totally. I'm now 100% in favour of independence.
I have one question for those in favour of unification and want to end secession. If Somalia
were ever unified (hypothetically) who would govern the 4.5million landers? You honestly believe people there would be okay with Mogadishu, given the history of war, ruling over us again...? Really?
How would it work? Logistically. I'm curious. I keep hearing sentiments and ideals of unification but the practically... nothing.
No personal attacks please. Genuine question. Keep it civil. Thanks.
