The territorial extent of Ethiopia in 1935 encompassed Amhara, Gojjam, Shewa, and Tigray. Afar and Somali regions were not under their dominion. It was not until 1948 did the empire exercise any authority over the Ogaden plains after the british ceded the territory, and 1955 when the British handed over the hawd & reserve region
