I don't know if this is a norm in all Somali households but in our house our mom would never let us(Son's) help her in the kitchen,2 minutes was the most we were allowed to remain there, that part of the house was off limits and a no-go zone, the only exception was when we wanted something from the fridge or using the microwave and such.

It was a kinda like a taboo Walahi, if one of once was caught even making a tea or Dalac bilaash the punishment was swift and unforgetfull, not to mention all the yelling, scolding and humiliation was a mistake none of us wanted to get into.

I understand 6 boys and one sister wasn't an easy task on her part (we literally caused her blood pressure) ,we were naturally outlaws and without a belt, contanst monitoring and also hwe presence we were like the USC Mooryaans in 199 without AK47s.:silanyolaugh:

Our mom and sister were in charge of the kitchen and our chores were pretty much watering the garden(4 lemon trees), lawn care, trash disposal, washing our dad's car and such.

Sometimes we would get up early in the morning or in middle of the night and ofcourse your can't knock at your parents room or sister to ask for a an omelet sandwich or Malawax so you tip toe to the kitchen and turn the pan on the stove on and get the Malawax thing going on until you find your mom at door enraged, this is her typical rant coupled by anyone would take the lashes of the belt.

"Waryaa Nacas yahow, waan kugu khasaaray Walle, are you a female or Fagg? What are you doing in the kitchen? I haven't beat you guys this whole week and thought I should treat u like a gentleman now out of sudden you are in the kitchen, you might as well wear your sisters Dirac, GTHH now before I get my belt, Alla hoogayeey kuwaan waan ku khasaaray, your embarassing your mom sow ma ahan sanbac yahow, you want my neighbors to say Heblaayo son's do female chores Keleb yahow(Slaps my face),how many times did I tell you ask your sister and me if you hungry, why can't you Doqoms act like men, you are 12 fucking years old.:mjcry::wow:

@Mercury sxb I think your parents were more liberals compared to my conservative Puntite parents if they use to let you cook as a son, :drakelaugh: in our household only Ramadan was the only time we were allowed to cook without a facing any consequences.

No Trolling, I want to see if this was a norm in your houses because this no male Kitchen had major toll one when I moved out of mom's house, couldn't cook shit beside Malawax,Canjeelo and dry ass Dalac bilaash.

Sorry for the long post, My question is
is this is a norm in most Somali homes too?.

Why do Somali females are
constantly Calaacaling about us not helping them in the kitchen when they themselves told us not to?

Halimos, Would you guys let your future son help you in the kitchen or you will continue the tradition?

Would you let your future son help you in the kitchen?

Would you cook for your wife?

Would you let your wife change a tire?

Yes
Yes
And Yes.

Since we cleared that out of the way, it is your turn to give me answers to my questions, can you give me a rough idea of how things worked in your household compared to mine.

No, my mum didn’t care what my brothers did...discipline was my dads job. He knew how to cook , clean and wash clothes by hand and he tried to teach all his kids that. Doesn't mean he used these skills a lot though.

Well growing up we all had to pitch in at home the reason was to get self reliant from a young age and not depend on anyone else

Ive seen moms that don't want their sons to help around the house and I dont think that's right back home you will see a guy in his early 20s have his 10 year old sister cook and clean his clothes and he dont consider that ceeb at all

My hoyo says I'm a better cook then my two sisters :mjswag:

But it took a while for her to let me go ham in the kitchen, she didn't trust me with the oven :mjcry:
