Me too. The truth is, 1. Many Oromo speak both Amharic and afaan Oromo.
And... 2. Many don't know afaan Oromo but know Amharic since they most likely spoke and learned that back home in school.
In my family for example.
My dad spoke about 4 to 5 languages, including afaan Oromo, Amharic and even the Somali language since he lived in Mogadishu (when siad Barres regime gave my dad and other OLA members military training).
My mom only spoke Amharic.
All of my uncle's on my dad side speak both Amharic and afaan Oromo but most of my cousins speak Amharic with about 40 percent speaking Amharic and afaan Oromo. this is my dad's side of the family and only a small portion of them, that live in America with us.
