The deaths come weeks after clashes erupted between Somali and Boran communities over grazing land.

The Somali herders had crossed from North Eastern into Garba-Tulla sub-county in search of grazing land

@Xayd I'm not sure but they came from Isiolo area and even Isaaqs live there. But it's probably the Garre like @RudeBoi said as they are the herders.

The DCC said police suspect the herdsmen were on a retaliatory attack after one of their herders was killed at Kuri area in Isiolo last month.

The incident happened while Borana elders were at a peace meeting to consult on how their community would compensate the family of a Somali herder who was killed last month.

Those killed were the relatives of one of the elders who were presiding over the meeting.

It is not Garre, no Garre live in Isiolo :ftw9nwa:
It is either Cawlyahan or Degodiye, most like Cawlyahan since they believe they own Garbatulla and that it should have been part of Garissa.

Thanks for the correction.

I've only ever heard of Garre fighting with Oromos or the Degodiya fighting with Garre or the Murule fighting with Garre so I assumed it was Garre.

As far as I know, Garre usually fight with Boran in Marsabit around Moyale and with Degodiye in places like Rahmu in Mandera.
Isiolo Somalis used to be Isaaq and Harti, but nowadays it is mostly Ogaden, Degodiye and Ajuraan.
The foreign minister Amina was actually born in Isiolo.
