Imagine if Somali Grooms wore clothing like this, white fabric looks very simple, traditional, clean and classy, I am not gonna lie and say that I haven't seen somali grooms wearing macawiises cus I have and it is usually this one that looks bulky and cartoony looking especially the green belt version

Also why have I seen Alindi become a woman only thing, i wish I could make a somali groom attire company where i could sell different types of cultural men's wear which includes stuff like alindi for men because it seems like somali grooms out there are either wearing some macawiis, a suit or arab clothing, btw i would post a guy wearing fully arab khaleeji clothing with that bisht thing but i dont wanna backbite so yall can just imagine it in ur heads for now.

Just look at how elegant these men look yet so simple, wayyyyy better than these bulky cartoon looking macawiises or arab clothing

If I don't pursue midwifery I'm gonna pursue fixing the variety in somali men's clothing God willing

You know this clothing isn't exclusively Arab, we had some cultural exchange so it can also be considered part of our culture.

This was the regular attire, I wouldn't wear this to a wedding.

You can also put on what they're wearing, wouldn't look that bad.

Qamiis nor bisht was rarely used by Somalis, even suits is way more used than qamiis + bisht ever was. To consider it part of our culture due to a few pics of men wearing it is disingenuous

Well, your ancestors would wear something similar to this to wedding, that includes notables and prominent men in the past. Obviously their finest version of wrapped garment tho

You obviously can and it isn't a problem, but recognize it as Arab clothing rarely worn by Somalis historically.

If u guys like traditional arab clothing more than Somali just say it straight

100%, wrapped garment when woren right looks very classy and elegant and could easily be worn in weddings like it used to

Not only is this ugly, it's also completely inaccurate. Nobody wore cheap t-shirts until 1920s-30s and I've seen 1000s pf old photos, but never seen that green belt used in any. Should be banned

It's seems Alindi was mostly used by women, but I l've seen photo of a bodyguard of the Hubeer Sagaal Ugaas wearing Alindi macwiis and another of the brother of Boqor Cismaan wearing it too so Allahu Aclam

No need to hate one arab clothing and Somalis wearing Qamiis and bisht to weddings tho. White Qamiis was the fav dress of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ

No thanks. Real niggas wear a Khamiis and cimaamad. Why would I wear a macawiis and a white shirt, that is something you wear at home.

That's what I'm saying bro, it's so hard for them to understand that some of us were dressed extravagantly. This is my cultural clothing.

No it's not. That's arab clothing a few Somalis sometimes wore. The vast, vast majority of Somalis of all classes wore wrapped garment. The Abgaal Imam, the Geledi Sultan, The Mj Boqor, all of them and more wore wrapped garment and rarely wore arab clothing.

The self-hate here stinks:westbrookwtf:

You need to take a geography class or something. They were closer to Yemen in distance than they were to other Somalis, of course they will dress similar. Maybe it's hard for you to get through your mind, but they were culturally linked for thousands of years. Of course we dressed similar to them, they were our neighbours/distant family.

I kept telling the cops that it was part of my culture but the MFs wouldn't listen...

The last photo is iconic. The men look regal and honorable. Ive noticed pants and shirts are not really flattering on Somali men ( even Khaleejis tbh). Men over the age of 50 should dress like this.

I understand wearing a qamiis cus the prophet wore it even tho what he wore was very different to the modern day qamiis but a bisht is over doing it, the only reason why I say this is because people easily mistaken arab culture for something Islamic when it's literally just another piece of clothing nothin islamic, people need to stop mistaken arabnimo for islam cus even a gaal arab can where a bisht cus it has no islamic relevance so a dude wearing a bisht to his nikkah is free to do so but he better not be thinkin it brings holier vibes.
