Based odey, they need to ban Hollywood, Bollywood and Turkish shows. Only blck shows so somali kids grow up watching people with their skin tone and don’t become insecure

Men will not give up marrying a group of women they desire. They do not care if it is natural or bleach. As long as they look that way to him, these women will be in demand. Many men can't even tell when women are wearing natural makeup and you think they can tell when a woman is not naturally light skin? Btw, they're using better and more expensive bleaching creams now which can make the skin even toned.
It's a simplistic and juvenile take.

Stop the entertainment imported into Somalia. Bollywood, Hollywood and Turkwood all discrimate against darker people. You’d think america was full of blondes, Turkey was full of blondes with green eyes and India is filled with fair skinned people. Notice how it’s the generation with these forms of entertainment that fancy this shit? Ban this shit. Our people are gonna end up becoming self loathing white worshippers.
Its probably going to take years before this trend dies, but the only way this practise is going to change is through a cultural overhaul.
Firstly, men's and women's ideals of what is beautiful has to be changed. Example, in the West Xalimos never bleach, nor do they use pills to fatten themselves. Why? Because people here are encouraged to love their natural skintones and being healthy is seen as the fashion. Furtheremore, the average Western Abdi isn't color struck, nor do they like obese women. Hence, bleaching and being an over grown whale isn't in vogue.
Anyways, as more Western expats move back and bring their Western mindsets with regards to beauty, the whole bleaching and fatness culture will die down.. There needs to be a whole change in beauty standards for things to progress.

I agree, but i would go a step further and delete all social media. I would then build a somali internet bubble just like china and not have any gaal influence. That way ppl will not bleach or go crazy for tahriib because they saw a abdi in europe with his snowbunny on instagram/facebook
Tbh, even the Arabs have a more modern view of beauty compared to Somalis. Whilst light skin is idealised, being fat certainly isn't apart from Mauritania.
With regards to fatness that is obviously due to Somalia being a poor nation. A fat girl signifies that she's from a comfortable family and if you have a fat wife, it makes you look like more of a provider as you can afford to feed your wife well.
According to statistics, the richer the nation, the more likely that being slim is seen as a sign of beauty and the poorer the nation, the more they value fatter women. Even amongts groups, wealthier men prefer more athletic and slimmer women, whilst poor men tend to prefer 'thicker' women. It's an interesting phenomenon.
Therefore, economic stability, a cultural overhaul and emphasis on health will make Somalis current beauty standard obsolete.
