Cute but how ignorant was the family back home that they're crying over a highschool graduation? Seems like a reer badiyo thing to do.

Congrats to the kid and his family

But still it's funny lol, most of my folks didn't even come to my Uni graduation. My dad was working at the time so he couldn't make it but he called me to say congrats but during our convo he said he'd be more elated to see me become a doctor and not get some 4 year rubbish degree all the habyars be getting while working at walmart :damedamn::ileycry::dwill:walahi it may seem harsh but tough love is what our somali boys really need instead of getting babied for doing the bare minimum. No wonder why our Somali sisters be out performing us academically.:kanyehmm:

The graduating class of white, Asian, Indian and West African students will cry because they are saying goodbye to good friends and teachers they had close bonds with. Parents will cry because Junior is all grown up now.

But those black (Somali) tears are tears of rising up against oppression and breaking nonexistent barriers that exist only in a black (Somali) man's mind. You see, "racism" was widespread in teacher's lounges. These were the tears of victory against unsupportive guidance counselors who allegedly told black (Somali) students to aim low because "they'll never amount to anything". Great obstacles were faced to get that piece of paper, even though you could play hooky everyday and still be on the Honour Roll.

Somalis are the new African Americans.

Good for him but how ignorant can the family be to cry over a high school graduation. He must be the first high school graduate in his family.

Most Somalis barely have a primary school education. Maybe she's happy because he's going on to better things such as university.

Man, our graduation practice was a mess.
It was great. :sass1:
The security counselor basically said we couldn't decorate our caps because our ceremony was supposed to be "like church," and everyone booed at him. :mjlol:
And then when were practicing our walks they forced us to do it again and again and everyone was getting mad because it was hot as hell outside
Also our student council/ASB president messed up the Pledge of Allegiance by saying "one nation, under all" instead of "one nation, under God" and a bunch of people got offended and yelled at her :chrisfreshhah:
At the end of the day I snuck in a decorated cap and I still got my diploma so overall it was pretty fun :sass2:

Also some Nortes and Suarenos (Spanish Northern California gangs) got into a fight and one of them fired gunshots in the air next to our graduation, a field full of hundreds of people, and they all panicked so that was neat.
Wallahi I'm not making any of this up :mjkkk:

I would rather want to be in your graduation than our robot 'graduation'.

We did ours during a normal school day. We missed 2 periods to do that shitty graduation.

We had to collect some random red shit which we put our achievements inside.

It was a stupid concept.

On top of that, it was before we even finished our exams. Like, what are we celebrating exactly?
:mjlol:

I have to go to another one this following September after I finish school. But, at least this won't be robot organised.
:manny:

Seriously, if you ever move to the UK, inshallah if your kid grows up here, tell them to take a day off for their school graduation. Worst two periods of my life.

Maaaaaan at least you didn't have to wake up early on a hot Saturday to go, I'd rather it be during school. I'd like to visit the UK one day :ahh: I have family over at Bristol that came over to visit twice but we can't afford a trip there :mjcry:
Also I found a pic of my cap. You can't really see the small text on the left but that's ok since it's the middle part that counts.

Damn, I'm envious as hell. I graduated with 11.7 and with bonuses 12.5 (12 is the highest grade in Denmark).

My dad wasn't even impressed when teachers came to congratulate him.

His answers was: I expect my girl to be succesful and a good student, anything less and I send her back to Somalia. The teachers and I was speechless, I was only a -b away from being send home. :russ:

Danish high-school graduation are lit:

There's probably a background story to why this was so emotional for them.
Also, looking at the highschool drop-out rates of Somali's in certain areas we really have no reason to be sneering at other blacks.

I don't mind waking up early on Saturday.
:manny:

You should save up or if you want I can send money if we become good friends.
:krs:

That cap is pure perfection. What better than have the ultimate childhood favourite, Spongebob, on your graduation cap?
:mybusiness:

This is cute, but personally I feel like graduating from hs is pretty standard.. uni graduation is the true "I made it" moment. If you don't graduate high school (living in the West ofc) then you're just a loser. :mjlol:
