Neima Abdulahi joined the 11Alive News team in May 2016 as a multi-skilled journalist. She enjoys being a visual storyteller, with an ability to shoot and edit her own stories.
Neima is excited to be back home in the Atlanta area. She grew up in Decatur and always dreamed of reporting close to home.
Before joining the team, Neima worked as a multimedia journalist at FOX46 in Charlotte. While working there, she covered both national and local stories. She traveled to Columbia, S.C. to cover the Confederate flag rallies. She also covered a high-profile officer-involved shooting in Charlotte that went to trial. During her time in the Queen City, she received two RTDNAC/AP Awards - General News by MMJ and runner-up for MMJ of the year.
Neima got her start while working for the college award-winning newscast Elon Local News at Elon University. She also spent four consecutive summers with the Emma Bowen Foundation’s internship program. That’ where Neima got her first newsroom experience learning from professionals in the industry.
Neima was born in Somalia and moved to the United States in 1996. She considers herself an honorary southerner and a huge music enthusiast."
