I don't know if you sleeping under a rock or not, but Somalis as a people are dad dhiig kulul, same goes for our women. In old Somali society, the Somali women had a lot of freedom, which basically they ran the household.

That dhiig kulul and independence are still there. Where an Arab girl will accept getting beat by her husband, a Somali girl wouldn't or be told to stay in the house and can only leave with her husband's permission.
