They were protected under Reer mataan (sub of Galmaax) who are the native of tribe of the Mogadishu area. Following urbanisation, they were given refuge under reer mataan and became their clients (not part of the clan like with RX). Many non-native tribes ranging from Darood to HG and even other abgaals in Banaadir at the time received similar protection and came under Reer mataan. Since these people were never really assimilated but only received protection out of goodwill, they have since mostly all went back to their roots.
