The problem is that random person in somalia isn't even aware of whats happening, they shouldn't be in such a hurry esoecially when the stakes are this high

EAF is a pipe dream that I honestly think won't happen. It'll be some developing nations like Kenya and Rwanda carrying DRC and Zimbabwe. Too much hassle. I think this all about movement, the rich in somali want to move about freely and take advantage of the opportunities given to their kin outside of Somalia.

We had 25 years to kickstart local industry, EAC Chinese industrial parks may replace Arab imports and we won't ever produce local goods. I feel sorry for my people (Puntland).

how does this benefit somalia exactly?
There are many benefits in joining this community. For example, Somali businesses will have no tariffs imposed on them when they decide to export their products to said countries, we are a businesses minded people. You can see the effect we already have in their economy. This alone will see the Somali economy grow at an unprecedented rate. Our people will be able to move freely in these nations and not face any trouble. Although I am not a fan of a possible future union, I honestly do not think that will come to fruition. Even if it did, our parliament can vote to leave at any time. At the moment and for the last few decades, the EAC has been an economical union and it looks like it’ll stay that way.

We have been given an opportunity to become the economical powerhouse of East Africa. Knowing our people’s hunger for success, it’s bound to happen sooner or later.

EAC also known as 'empty aid community' will not bring any benefit to Somalia as whole only some bouji merchants that want to do business freely in those countries, meanwhile the EAC countries have had years headstart ahead of us in development and they all have these "Chinese industrial cooperation parks" and they'll use these cheap Chinese made Bantu assembled crap to dump in Somalia then they'll use the Bantu EAC beaurocratic apparatus to suppress Somalia from having Chinese investment to form industrial parks persuading the Chinese that Somalia is a U.S client state.

And what businesses are those? Somalia does not produce anything, so the only businesses that Somalis can offer in the EAC is in the export/import market. There are no local products or any industries that Somalia can offer in the EAC that can out compete Kenyan/Tanzanian/Ugandan products/industry.

Of course Somalia has products to export no matter how small. Our biggest export is livestock, there are also fisheries, fruits (mainly bananas), hides and skin, franchises, myrrh, oils, paper, charcoal, resign gum. Im sure there is more.

Somalia with all its current troubles, is growing at an impressive rate. You all need to start thinking about the future and not the present, we will not be in this current predicament for long. Once peace is restored, the industrialisation of our nation will begin. Businesses will need a market to sell their goods, and what better place then our back yard. With no restrictions in place to hinder our progress.
