615,000 students sat for the KCSE 2017 national exams.

Severally Somalis landed in the top 1% and one student quotes his parents for his success and discipline.

“My mum and dad often woke me up at 4 am; I could read from that time and leave for school at 5:30 am. Many a times I’d sleep at midnight after my preps. My teachers motivated me to do my best.” He said.

Apparently there was a mass nationwide failures in the exam.

I’m drawn to this story because of the dual parent household that leads to the success of the children when two educated Somali parents put attention to education and increase the quality of life for their children.
