Seen way too much hopium on here recently

Some of you are way too deluded about what Somalia is right now and what it can be.

Don't ever get your hopes up when it comes to this country our future is never bright & whenever it is looking to be that way, it is always sabotaged by external factors.

Always view anything related to Somalia with a negative mindset, as a man if you have genuine hope in this cursed nation then start ordering the finasteride and minoxidil.

I'm a be honest being too black pilled on somalia is a sign of low iq and masochistic thinking.

The single fact that we have an incredibly large oil reserves which will start production at max in 5 years alone is enough to be hopeful about future prospects. (The biggest gain from oil will be that somalis energy costs which are 5 to 7 times are neighbors will probably decrease by 10 times spurring a massive boom in business)

There's also the simple fact that somalia is entering a new phase of getting rid of terrorists groups. Hsm campaign although a failure was a sign of things to come. Now puntland is engaging in probably it's largest campaign since it was founded. I high expect the next somali president to take things to the next level and launch a full scale attack on alshabab and weaken them enough to bring them to the negotiation table.

My prediction is between now and 2050 somalia will probably at worst have a 6k gdp per capita. Which would only require like a 5% growth rate per yeaf something which somalia was doing in the mid 2010s and is only 1% higher than now. Even this worst case scenario would be more than enough for Somalia to be considered the economic miracle of the continent.

I will forever be an optimist and nationalist when it comes to Somalia because the growth is insane. I’ve witnessed it. The difference between Xamar now and 2021 is huge. Imagine 10 years ago? 🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴

Somalia has an economy of under 15 billion in 2025
You think we’re going to have an economy of 200 billion in 2050
That’s 25 years, people like you are exactly who I’m talking about:francis::francis:

Sometimes I think you’re a smart kid when u post in other sections about history, language or dna but then I see you post stuff like this saying we have large oil reserves. I’m not so sure sxb. :francis:

I dont get why you would think it doesn't exist. I could accept the idea you think it won't be properly utilized. But the idea that the turks would send one of only ten research vessels they have to the somali coast for several months for something that doesn't exist makes no sense ?

The reason I constantly bring up those oil reserves. Is that while I think somalia has decent economic prospects on paper. What will make or break the country is that It factor. Countries require a huge external source of economic surplus if they want to develop quickly. The 1990- 2010s was a period were that could be achieved with manufacturing exports but thats over now . somalia is way too late to the game. If somalia wants to develop the only possible potenial source of a large economic surplus we have is oil revenue

The pessimism is due to the people not our resources. In terms of land and geography, somalia is blessed. But the somali people on the other hand...

Until we get peace, those resources will never be utilised.

Sure but you seem to think it’s there in large quantities for sure. It might, it might not but I don’t know how you can be so confident.

Large is relative I'm not 100% sure about that stuff of us being 5/6th in terms of oil reserves. But even if we lowball it with the Norwegian survey done in 2016 were still like 14/15th . Which is more than enough to transom a country of 18 million . Plus haven't you seen all the videos of people encountering random oil seepage.

Your also forgetting that a lot of the info about this stuff isn't public yet. All of these huge publicity stunts and bug contracts have to be based on something. What's the source of there confidence ? Why would turkey agree to a 10 year contract to build somalia's navy ? I highly doubt fish and other marine animal resources are profitable enough for that kind of deal.

Turkey is not china that kind of investment is hard to justify if the main benefit is "controlling somalia" or some "geostragetic purpose " there obviously has to be money to be made somewhere or the guys who are pushing for this wouldn't be able to justify it to the other factions in the govt
