Somalia doesn’t have any real leaders and it’s a shame. For one of the most homogeneous nations in Africa, we are an embarrassment.

They are Mahra Arabians from the Yemen/Oman border. The majority of them are only this origin. Mahras tend to be darkest skinned Arabs.
And they have some who descend from Swahili slaves (slave trade between Zanzibar and the Persian Gulf had pitstops at Socotra to replenish ships).
Somali or Indian blood (which many people claim they have) is nonexistent in the vast majority of them.
It depends. If you’re talking about native Mehri in Socotra, Yemen and Oman (although the one’s in Oman may have mixed with the Harti settlers) than I agree. They live in Somalia and exist as Carab Saalax and mixed with the locals.

Somalis who settled in Arabia mostly outbred themselves and became more Arabian over time while not giving much Somali blood to Yemenis or Omanis. It was mostly Harti Faraxs marrying local Arab women and then the children from those unions mixing with each other and forming a Somali tribe in Arabia.
It is extremely rare for a Yemeni or Omani to score more than 1% Somali on 23andMe. Many of them have done those tests, check out subreddit /r/23andMe.
This is bad news, the Socratis had always been remote a society that remained isolated for centuries.

If you look at the demographics only 30% are nativr Mahra the Socratis the vast majority are immigrants from Southern Yemen that have settled in the past 50 years.
The GCC have intentions to expand their influences on the island and it's inevitable that over time the Island falls under their possessions similar to a trusteeship. Remember Yemen is fractured and lawless ten times than our country. So yes they are vulnerable to Gulf predators.
And that poses a geopolitical threat for Somalis.
I believe this isn't the first time the Emiratis had their foothold in HOA , Berbera port in Somaliland, before Djibouti curbed their influences when the pot bellied politicians were once under their paytolls ,
Or when the desert lizards aided and assisted Eritrea and used their army to fight the war in Yemen and most recently the supplies of drones to Ethiopia.

Somalis have nothing to do with the people of Socotra apart from a few clans in Puntland (Harti and Carab Saalax). The Mehri people of Socotra want nothing to do with Somalis and don’t want to be apart of Somalia. They only want relations with tribes related to them and have a family history with.

Socotra are their own people called "mehri" .
The mehri tribe is scattered around Oman,Yemen,Somalia & Saudi Arabia.
However socotra is closer to Somalia than Yemen & because of its strategic position its of great interest for the surrounding countries.
Only harti's can claim socotra
