Let’s spin that to Muslim Africans regardless of region and you’ll find we are more similar to them than to Muslim Arabs from the Arabian peninsula. It’s all a matter of perspective, obviously we have nothing in connection to non Muslim Africans apart from sharing similar skin colour, but the truth is we are far more closer to say a swahili or Zaghawa or a Fulani in terms of culture and religion than to peninsular Arabs or Arabs in general.
p.s this statement does not apply to our banadiri/cadcad guests, you are free to identify with whoever you wish, im only referring to the ethnic Somalis from 5-7 major clans who speak Somali as their mother tongue.
We are closer culturally to Yemenis than we are to any Fulani Swahili or Zaghawa. The only Africans I can think of that we share a lot of cultural affinity to are other Cushitic groups and some ethio Semitic groups but that’s about it.
No let’s be honest, apart from the macawiis and whatnot we’ve got nothing in common with them apart from Islam, only group who can claim kinship with them in Somalia are the Yemeni descended types found in xamar and other cosmopolitan cities.
