I also didn’t know the British had a hand in the Sayyid being excommunicated by his Sheikh from the movement.

Italians, British and his friend Shixiri (there were other groups but these 3 were the most important).
I believe they actually failed in convincing Sheikh Salah al rashid to excommunicate the sayyid so they fabricated a letter and spread it all over somaliweyn. Also when the letter first arrived in Eyl without reading it sayyid said this wasn’t written by my sheikh nor is that his hand writing. Another sus thing is the letter spread to the salihis in northern Somalia and the letter spread in the south were actually not identical and the most surprising is even tho it was mass produced allegedly the original Arabic version doesn’t exist anymore.
