Sabrina elba reveals her mother is a victim of fgm and almost died giving birth to her as a result

do you even know what sunnah circumcision is?
FGM is an old African tradition it has nothing to do with Religion, men actually benefit from circumcision, and we're only losing foreskin, FGM version for men would be equivalent to chopping the tip of your penis for men.

Nigguh FGM 3 is the most common version, there is no benefit to women, it's disgusting and inhumane, I don't why you're championing such disgusting practice.

Female circumcision is not endorsed or sanctioned in Islam, but male circumcision is. The prophet Mohamed(PBUH) never ordered any of his wives or daughters to undergo female circumcision. There is one hadith that is commonly used to link female circumcision to Islam. Most scholars dispute its authenticity. Most scholars classify the hadith about the so-called sunnah circumcision as weak because the chain of transmitters is weak and there is conflict in its meaning. Religious extremists, odayasha dhaqanka and insecure men in the Somali community are the only ones that want to preserve FGM or the so-called female circumcision. They are using religious terms to strengthen and perpetuate the deep-seated cultural practice of FGM. They have conditioned women that if you don't undergo FGM, then you are ritually unclean and not suitable for marriage.

Lies. FGM is practiced and advocated by all shafi'ites from Kurds to Yemenis to Malays (where it's called FGC)

What are you on about mate? It’s only one hadith that is deemed doubtful but it’s not the only evidence that is provided regarding female circumcision. The only debate there is whether it is obligatory or just recommended.

Ibn taymiyyah said in his majmoo fatwa regarding what should be cut:

Praise be to Allah. Yes, they should be circumcised, i.e., the top of the piece of skin that looks like a rooster’s comb [referring to clitoral hood] should be cut. The Messenger of Allah said to the woman who did circumcisions: “Leave something sticking out and do not go to extremes in cutting. That makes her face look brighter and is more pleasing to her husband.”

Majmoo Fatawa 21/114

Ibn qayim said:

لا خلاف في استحبابه للأنثى واختلف في وجوبه

“There is no disagreement on the recommendation of it for females and there is difference on its obligation”

There is also another hadith in sahih bukhari:

“…..The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When anyone sits amidst four parts (of the woman) and the circumcised parts touch each other a bath becomes obligatory.” -Sahih Muslim 349

To deny the legality and recommendation of female circumcision is wrong and stupid, the evidence is plentiful that it is recommended and this has never been debated upon. FGM is wrong and should be banned but female circumcision is halal and mustahab at the very least.

FGM is a deep-seated primitive cultural practice that predates all the Abrahamic faiths. It has no connection to Islam. Somali nomads practiced FGM on women because they thought it would ensure her chastity and suppress her sexuality. Nomads are constantly on the move in search of greener pasture, water and other vital resources. The harsh climatic conditions in most of Somalia are often not suitable for living. Most of the time, the nomads would leave their families behind and they would be away from them for a very long time. Somali Nomads practiced FGM to ensure chastity of women and preserve their clan lineage. Persevering clan lineage was something very important to the nomads. That was the thought-process of the nomads at the time. The elders and the fake sheikhs in Somalia have a very primitive and backward mindset. Trust me, these guys don't want to eradicate FGM. They are now advocating for the so-called sunnah circumcision, which has no backing in the Quran or hadith.

Nice job ignoring that it’s not the “elders” enforcing FGM but it’s the women who are. Men couldn’t give a shit as long as there is a siil.

“No backing in the Quran and hadith” for female circumcision :draketf:. Did you even read the sources I provided for you or do you just lack the comprehension skills necessary to discern information?

Thanks for your stupid analysis tho. Now you can go and piss off back to mareeja.com or whatever hellhole you were in the past couple of months

You completely misrepresented the first hadith. You are not well grounded in Islamic sources. The first hadith uses the word ashimmi. The word ashimmi has several meanings, including to massage with something soft like oil,” “to leave something raised,” “to kiss,” “to smell” or “to place one thing upon another.” people like yourself have mistranslated the word ashimmi to mean cutting a small part of the clitoris. There are several versions of the hadith you quoted and they were all classified as weak and there is a conflict in its meaning. Ashimmi has several meanings and cutting was not part of the prophet(PBUH) advice.

The second hadith you quoted is authentic but completely misrepresented. The Hadith is found under the chapter on “tohara” which means ritual purification or cleanliness. That hadith discusses purification, not circumcision. The message in the Hadith is that it is obligatory to take a ritual bath after sexual intercourse. Ulamas have said the terms used in the Hadith, khitaanani (literally, the two male circumcisions) , il-tiqaa (literally meeting) and mass (literally touching), are majaaz (metaphors). Whereby khitaanani refers metaphorically to the male and female sexual organs, but using the description of the one that is required to be circumcised i.e., the male organ, and both il-tiqaa and mass metaphorically refer to sexual intercourse. Here the words “meeting/touching” must be understood in the context of Islamic jurisprudence.

Furthermore, the term khitaan in Arabic strictly refers to male circumcision and FGM/C is referred to as khifaadh as earlier explained. The term khitaanani, though in dual, is not evidence for FGM/C because the use of one word or quality to refer to two different persons or things is an acceptable Arabic language. In this case
khitaanani refers to the male and female organs but which are different with respect to circumcision i.e. male is circumcised, the female is not. The feature of the more common or prominent one i.e. male circumcision is used.

FGM was a tool to suppress and control women's sexuality. Women have been mentally conditioned by men in somalia that FGM is ritually clean, encouraged in Islam and increases their marriage prospects. No women will go out of her way to harm her own body. You are delusional.

There's already groups of women who have been advocating to end FGM for years. She needs to find something else to talk about.

Shameless! never see Egyptian, Habesha , Sudanese , Malaysian n indonesian women tryna get fame through FGM. Im noticing a really bad trend lately. All the ”known” Xalimos in the west are either FGM activist ,models or ciyaalsuuqs. Is the Jews behind it?
The Jews?
Why you don't acknowledge your faults? why it has to be someone else behind your failure?

To call any variation of FGM a sunnah is to imply that the Rasool SAW performed it (via his daughters) which is not true. So it’s best to be careful attributing acts to him SAW as it’s very serious.

Firstly, someone correct me if I’m wrong, as Somalis it seems we only started having debates about how wrong it is once we came to the Western world and or been influenced by Western thought. It’s shameful to admit this, but if it wasn’t for globalization and being educated on the matter by documentaries and the like, I often wonder, would we think it’s wrong? Isn’t it telling that my generation, born in the late 80s, early 90s are the first to not be mutilated at all?
I don’t think it was western thought that stopped Somalis from FGM. The diaspora was able to have the luxury to see things from the outside in. As opposed to being culturally indoctrinated to the practice. Once we saw that it was not prevalent amongst the muslim world and there was no reason of the practice but an archaic practice that clinged onto our culture for far too long. We started to reject it. Some were influenced by western culture to oppose it but I guarantee you if you ask Somalis living in the gulf if they done FGM to their daughters they would say no.

Same reason to why pre-modern somalia committed a lot of bidah as praying to saints for things and creating massive burial sites for them. Once we were connected to the outside world and information can move freely we quickly learned that our actions were not true islam.
