What shook me was her last words

Chilling, wholesome and profound

Yet she died at the hands of those same people

This is what she said in her last speech...

"Firstly we [parliamentarians] are the people who act as an example for the nation. We are the people who restrain the populace [in their wrongdoings]. We are the people who tell them right from wrong. Who desist them from doing wrong, and encourage them to do right. We guide them and point them to the righteous path. This the endeavour I have always strived for.

Perhaps people may not realise it, but when it is said that someone is an artist or a musician, that is the role they play. We are the eyes of the populace. The lens through which they are seen and see themselves. That is what we [artists] have also been. And I have only built on this.

What brought me to this position and why today I have become a direct member of parliament, is to do what I can, for my Somali country and people. To strive for this.

I am a nationalist. I stand for the common good. So to do what I can, is what has brought me here and what I will continue to stand for... As long as I live."
