Russia-Ukraine War

60% of the Kherson region is on the East Bank, under Russian control; Kherson city is on the West Bank and that's what's been taken by the Ukrainians.
The withdrawal from the city of Kherson was announced by the Russian mayor long before the Ukrainian "liberation". So there must have been a reason why they decided to leave the city before the Ukrainians advanced and that will be revealed soon enough I believe.

How can you believe anything the Ukrainians say about this war when they can lie about civilian massacres in places like Bucha?

And before anyone criticises me for using RT, many of you pro-Ukraine people here use news outlets like BBC, CNN and other equally propagandists sources. So cut the BS.

Scott Ritter was the subject in two law enforcement sting operations in 2001.[34] He was charged in June 2001 with trying to set up a meeting with an undercover police officer posing as a 16-year-old girl.[35][36] He was charged with a misdemeanorcrime of "attempted endangerment of the welfare of a child". The charge was dismissed and the record was sealed after he completed six months of pre-trial probation.[36][6] After this information was made public in early 2003, Ritter said that the timing of the leak was politically motivated in order to silence his opposition to the Bush administration's push toward war with Iraq.[35][36][37]

Ritter was arrested again in November 2009[38]over communications with a police decoy he met on an Internet chat site. Police said that he exposed himself, via a web camera, after the officer repeatedly identified himself as a 15-year-old girl.[2] Ritter said in his own testimony during the trial that he believed the other party was an adult acting out her fantasy.[5] The chat room had an 'age 18 and above' policy, which Ritter stated to the undercover officer.[2]

The next month, Ritter waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was released on a $25,000 unsecured bail. Charges included "unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communications facility, corruption of minors, indecent exposure, possessing instruments of crime, criminal attempt and criminal solicitation".[39] Ritter rejected a plea bargain and was found guilty of all but the criminal attempt count in a courtroom in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on April 14, 2011.[2][40]

In October 2011, he received a sentence of 1½ to 5½ years in prison.[41] He was sent to Laurel Highlands state prison in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, in March 2012 and paroled in September 2014.[4][5][6]

If this is all true then I feel so dumb that I doubted the Russian army's capabilities and intentions in this war. Col. MacGregor seems to have a pretty good idea about what the Russians strategically have in mind. The upcoming year will be an interesting one that's for sure.

All the withdrawals and limited offensives in areas like Kharkiv & Kherson certainly made it look like the Russians had lost this war. It was obvious to me that the reason they retreated from Kharkiv Oblast was that they were overstretched and didn't have enough units in that wide area. Their reasons for the recent withdrawal from the western Kherson region are still a bit uncertain but we'll see.

In addition to all this, the current fighting going on around Bakhmut seems to be pointing to a tough situation for the Ukrainians. The Russians are advancing at numerous points across the line.

The partial mobilisation has more or less been completed by the Kremlin. If Col. MacGregor is correct in his statements, then these fresh units are already being deployed along 3 separate areas around Ukraine.

What he mentioned about the Belarusians joining the Russians in a new attack across the border southwest towards the Polish border and potentially even Moldova is very interesting, if they can reach that goal they may be able to cut off supplies & weaponry coming in from NATO members.

Looks like Putin's decision to invade Ukraine was justified after Merkel's admission that the West never sought to honour the Minsk agreement but rather used it to buy time to arm Ukraine.

@Nilotic check this excerpt from a Russian White in 1917 during the Russian civil war.

Here is another interesting excerpt. He had a good understanding of what a cultural split with Russia would lead too and therefore opposed it.
