The new law now authorises the culling of 481 bears this year. This is more than twice compared to last year's 220.

"The Romanian Parliament has approved the culling of around 500 bears this year to control the ‘overpopulation’ of protected species. This comes after a 19-year-old hiker was mauled to death, sparking a nationwide outcry.

The female tourist, Maria Diana, was attacked and killed by a bear last week. She was hiking with her boyfriend, local media reported."

I feel bad for the lady tourist who was eaten but- does some woman getting eaten by a bear really justify killing random bears in retaliation? I wish they come up with some peaceful way of just keeping humans separate from bears so that the bears do not eat them.

You're spitting Omar this is gross. All Bear species besides Polar Bears don't attack people unless provoked. There's bears in my area & I've never heard of an attack once.

No Omar, this bear, I doubt it was just one, it or rather they have all developed a taste for human meat. The whole reservation is comprised now, they must all be put down and expunged.

We are an endangered species, the message must be clear. I am proud of our Romanian brothers.

So if a bear developed a taste for the finer delicacies of maddow meat and dared to deny our rightful dominion over it, you would still defend it and its offspring?
