Nonsense, it is not about distance. The Baligubadle custom is active and has been used by
khat traders many times, Sland region always interferes in it though. So why would it interfere
if the dealers themselves want to pay tax in Baligubadle custom and not Wajaale?

The tax collected from khat (specially in western Somaliland region since Sland influence in the far east is weak) goes to their areas. That is why they are against Baligubadle custom being fully operational.

We can go tulo for tulo aswell. I haven’t even included kalabayd and arabsiyo which is bigger than anything in sanaag apart from ceerigabo.

There is nothing "contraband" about Baligubadle custom. It is a legal operational custom which however Sland region decided to side with Wajaale instead. In a free market Wajaale and Kalabaydh customs wouldn't last a day.

So it’s clear what’s going on. You haven’t even showed proof you’re not allowed to tax a baligobadle aswell.

Whether it is cheaper or not that is up to the people bringing in khat & oil from Ethiopia to decide. They can decide which to use Baligubadle custom or Wajaale/Kalabaydh unless Sland region admin tries to interfere as in this case.


Back in July 2018 a oil truck arrived at Baligubadle custom from Ethiopia to be taxed. However it was forced to go to Kalabaydh (Gabiley district) custom instead. Like I said those customs (Wajaale & Kalabaydh) can't compete in a free market, otherwise monopoly wouldn't be needed to prop them up.
