I posted a quote from the study a few days back. Anyway, we know the conclusion. Somali women in monogamous marriages fair better.

I don’t think anyone is surprised.

Wives in polygamous marriages differed from those in monogamous marriages with a significantly higher rate of illiterateness (41.9% vs. 27.4%, p = 0.004) and a lower rate of university education (14% vs. 23.9%, p = 0.004).

or this:

Our findings also support a previously reported phenomenon of the first-wife syndrome [15, 16] among polygamous women, characterised by the highest levels of anxiety and depression in the first wife as compared with other co-wives in a polygamous marriage (Table 3).

I think especially with the bits I pasted, it’s a no brainer for most.

Even the wives of the greatest man on earth, Prophet Muhammad SAW, were jealous of each other. Just imagine that, the greatest, most fair man, and they were still jealous. It's not natural for a woman to be happy to share her husband, and even worse, have other women in your personal business.

Polygamy is a stress-filled trap for most women. What makes it less stressful is $$$ + a masculine, responsible man, who can keep his wives/families away from each other.

Surprise, surprise!

  • Women in polygamous marriages had significantly lower scores in the desire, arousal, orgasm, and satisfaction sub-domains.
  • Sexual dysfunction, with a significantly increased rate among women in polygamous marriages.

1. Is it because they only married for financial security and they find their husbands unattractive.
2. Is it because these men are terrible/selfish in the bedroom
3. Is it both.

Probably both. Also, for first wives I think the lowered self esteem probably creates intimacy disfunction since women have to feel desired and confident in their skin in order to have a satisfactory intimacy. First wives tend to feel less attractive and question their beauty ect since their husband is now with another woman.

A study derived from a sample of 607 women over a 4 month period in one clinic in one city ravaged by civil war for 30+ years. How does this represent So women? What would be the findings of So women in Hargeisa, Borama, Garowe or Jigiga?
Let’s be real, what has been cited isn’t ground-breaking and it’s something we all know deep down. Factors such as war isn’t going to alter it.

Most women in polygamous marriages tend to be poorer. That’s a bit of a given. The whole of Somalia is poor and I’d say Xamar despite being ravaged by war has more wealth than most parts of Somalia and better living conditions.

Women sharing their man have lowered self-esteem since now they’re in competition mode and will feel they’re not good enough because their husband married again. There is another woman in the marriage whom they would feel is younger and more desired by their partner. That’s basic human psychology. That will obviously seep into intimacy and other issues like happiness.

I am not as much questioning the conclusions of the study, if one could call it that, but could it be considered scientific or representative? I wanted to see the raw data source prior to its tabulation, and the Questionnaire, but could not locate it.

Does the poor, illiterate So woman know what S Freud meant by psychosexuality? Is it not developed and formed early in one's childhood? How does one's fortune or misfortune later in one's life alter that either way?

I do not know anything about these subjects, and shall leave it to you ladies.
